AUTO HAUS MOTORS SHOW TO BENEFIT AREA STUDENTS

Burnt Hills, NY

When Auto Haus Motors holds its third annual Open Haus and Car Show on Saturday, August 27 at their Burnt Hills facility, adult enthusiasts will have most of the fun. But it will be the area’s student population who will benefit in the long run, as the popular event, set to run from 10 am to 3 pm, will raise funds to support the SAM’s Garage program at the Saratoga Automobile Museum.
“We’ve been very impressed by the SAM’s Garage program, which is designed specifically for children and young adults,” said Bonnie Ford Dunleavy, events coordinator. “With the help of volunteer instructors, kids who visit the SAM’s Garage learn the many facets of auto mechanics through hands-on workshops and exciting projects. The program also features racing simulators, video modules and other interactive activities to trigger an interest in the educational program.
“Last year the kids in the program helped restore a Model TT Ford popcorn wagon and the previous year they built a ‘huckster truck,’ so dozens of students have had an opportunity for a ‘hands on’ experience. We want to encourage the development of the automotive technicians of the future.”
“We’re especially impressed with the museum’s vision for the future, the renovation of a nearby building to house a program offering a curriculum related to auto mechanics, car restoration and the preservation of vintage and exotic automobiles,” added Auto Haus Motors owner Craig Dunleavy. “We envision young enthusiasts starting down the same path followed by our own master technician, Frank Viva, and becoming the much-needed technicians of the future. In the process, it would further distinguish Saratoga Springs and the auto museum as a center of vitality, technology and innovation.”
Auto Haus Motors is currently pre-registering cars for their show, with the $10 fee ($15 day of show) going to the SAM’s Garage program. Items are also being accepted for a raffle to benefit the program and area businesses with an interest in the program are encouraged to support the event through the sponsorship of trophies and prizes.
